HOW TO PROVIDE A BREATH SAMPLE
A breath sample is provided by blowing a deep lung breath directly into the mouthpiece of the Sensor Head.
The AATI Freedom-5 incorporates an audible breath test indicator which is located in the Sensor Head. The indicator provides the driver with feedback as an aid with the breath sample requirements.
When the Ignition key is set to the “ON” position or if the engine has been started using the Bypass Switch and the brake pedal is pressed the voice message “PLEASE WAIT” will be heard. Approximately 15 seconds after this the voice message “PLEASE PROVIDE A SAMPLE” will be heard followed by two short audible tones. The breath sample may be provided any time after the two short audible tones.
To provide the breath sample, remove the Sensor Head from its location on the dashboard. by lifting it off its hook in a vertical direction.
While taking in a deep breath, bring the Sensor Head up to your mouth and place the mouthpiece between your lips. Ensuring that your lips have formed a good seal around the mouthpiece, exhale directly through the mouthpiece. Make sure as you exhale that no air escapes through the side of your lips. Blow with an even firm pressure.
The audible tone will start sounding as you start blowing and will continue to sound PROVIDING your breath sample is of sufficient duration and pressure.
Continue blowing into the mouthpiece until the continuous tone stops (approximately 6 seconds). After the continuous tone has stopped, two further short tones will be heard which indicate the end of the test. Return the Sensor Head back to its location on the dashboard. on to its hook, pushing down until a positive capture is felt.
REMOVING THE SENSOR HEAD
